  BACK TO "LEBANON"

BACK TO TRAVEL TIPS

 see pictures of:
[Beirut] [Sidon] [Tyre] [Beit-ed-Dine] [Byblos] [Faqra] [Tripoli] [Mountains] [Cedars] [Beqaa-Valley] [Baalbek] [Aanjar]

Typical landscape of the Lebanese coast near Batroun.

Moussaylha Castle at the Beirut-Tripoli highway near Batroun is an example of a typical crusaders fortification.

The northern coastal plains near Tripoli.

During the night, when you can see the lights, you can imagine how many people live in such a small country. With a population density of 350 inhabitants per square kilometre, Lebanon is one of the most dense populated countries in the world.

View from Ehden (1500m) to Tripoli.

In contrast to Beirut, Tripoli has still the flair of an old, Arab city with narrow streets and a large bazaar.

To the left, you can see the citadel of Tripoli.

View from the citadel down to the city center.

Main gate of the citadel.

Typical scene in the streets of Tripoli.

Need some lunch? I would recommend spice filled bread or grilled bred, filled with salty cheese.

Inner court of the grand mosque of Tripoli. Attention, women are not allowed to enter the mosque with uncovered hair and during prayers.

Mosque in the south of Tripoli.

Inside this mosque. In the cool and quiet rooms inside the mosque you feel like in another world.

In the clothes-bazaar.

At the bazaar ... nuts in all variations.

Herbs and dried flowers for your personal tea-mixture.

At Hallab (www.hallab.com.lb) you can buy some of the best Lebanese desserts!
