6°C, sleet and many ugly, large concrete hotels, this was our first impression of Zermatt. No wounder, that we were not very impressed of this classical tourist village in Switzerland. So we decided to make a hiking tour to Gornergrat (3089m) , in order to have also positive impressions of Zermatt. At the beginn we passed some nice Alps and old wooden houses. |

Zermatt is already deep under us in the valley. The weather is getting better and better, but we still cannot see the famous Matterhorn. |

The last part of the trail leads us along the rack railway to th Gornergrat. In the background you can see the Monte Rosa massif. |
